Dan Sartain, Walk Among The Cobras

Song Challenge Day 15 – a song that describes you: I don’t think there is a song which describes me. Someone wrote a poem about me once, but a song? Really don’t think so. So i’ll go for a song i can relate to instead. And that is Walk Among the Cobras by Dan Sartain. Here is a nice video to the song that has some low-budget touch to it. And the lyrics are below.

Well I found out, what it’s like
To walk among the cobras and, really be alone
And to pick at all the bones
Well I found out, what it meant
To really say I’m starving, and the truth was so alarming
And in fact I find it haunting
Oh well I found out, what they meant
To walk among the cobras and to really be alone
Well I found out, what it’s worth
For a girl to say ‘I love you’ and ‘God bless the stars above you’
Well I found out, what it meant
To really earn a dollar, and to scream instead of holler
And to lead instead of follow
And I found out, they were right
The man who’ll rob your eyes to see
And it’s all in front of me
And the truth won’t set you free
Well I found out, what it meant
To walk among the cobras and, to really be alone
Well I found out, what it’s worth
For a girl to say ‘I love you’ and ‘God bless the stars above you’
And that letter, that I sent
You know every word I meant, and I’m singing my lament
And I haven’t got there yet
And that letter, you sent back
Took it with me down the tracks, but the man he brought me back
Caught me peeping through the cracks
